Vendor  Space

/OUR STORY

Street vendors do not have a space to sell their items. This has created a problem where they have to go out onto the streets to sell, this starts a clash with street vendors, workplace owners, and local bigots. Our solution is creating a space where they don't have to face this stigma while trying to make a living. Vendors bring together communities through culture and we want to facilitate that. The reason why this is important is due to its benefit, by making communities vibrant and welcoming. Promoting street vending can generate employment, keep people safe, and create the vitality and comity that is the hallmark of livable humane cities.

In Santa Clarita, we lack space to come together. We have seen stigma towards street vendors where they are arrested for just trying to make a living and the street vendors are relegated to one part of the city that is not paid attention to by the city council. Santa Clarita's lack of street vendor culture makes it seem like a soulless town where you go to in n out. Making space for vendors to vend items such as food, handmade items, etc. will help all of us to have a sense of culture and community.

/OPPURTUNITY

In Santa Clarita we lack space to come together, one of the greatest ways we come together is through food. Currently, we do not have space for street vendors to sell food, and our current space for selling items such as clothes is in a rundown race track. We have the opportunity to not only bring the community together but to decrease the stigma of street vendors in SCV.
