Creative Space
/OUR STORY
Suburbs have a severe lack of creative & artistic institutions. The creative youth need a place they can gather and ideate, with resources at their disposal to explore and create with. The youth need vision, they need their works shown. The youth need to feel represented and know that they have a community that shows them that they have intrinsic value. Barnes and noble and regal cinema isn’t suitable, its adversity. These are the issues a creative center stands to address. To provide spaces, resources, guidance, and representation to the suburban landscape. It stands to act as a second home to artists, a hotbed for inspiration and innovation, to cradle one’s creative needs. It would introduce varieties of arts to the public that may be inaccessible at other institutions, and allow people to explore the history and culture of arts within the suburb. With a creative center, an artistic community can flourish, and the creative youth and others would find themselves supported and represented at home. Instead of rushing out of their encamped neighborhood the first chance they get to the city, the creative center could create a culture that gives the option of support at home.

/TOAST

In Santa Clarita, inspiration is hard to find. For creatives, they cannot bet to be represented. For the youth, the mindset is that to be involved in artistry you must flee to the city to have any chance at all. Many are creatively suppressed by local institutions and peers. The general atmosphere of the suburb is soul crushing. There is a severe lack of community within the suburb and no support or emphasis on artistic expression. Artistic culture in Santa Clarita is nowhere to be found.
