/OUR STORY
Community Centers are places where groups or the community get together and do events together, learn about public information, or have support systems. Santa Clarita doesn’t have any concrete community center that brings everyone together, so the Community Center is being designed and built to facilitate that. This will be a place to host creative nights, grow together with community gardens, learn together, and so much more.

The Santa Clara River is mostly barren and deserted. With the biodiversity of California wildlife slowly receding being replaced by suburban "appealing" plants, and without a community center in SCV, the city is severely lacking in knowledge, and we (collectively as a city) merely litter in the river, and watch day after day as fires ravage our state. Additionally, we have no real sense of community, and live separate in our boxed homes, and don’t interact with the city as a whole, opting to live in isolation.

With the river not seeing much use, and a majority of- if not all -residents of scv without knowledge on California plants and biodiversity, or the history of the SCV river, a river community center could provide useful to help educate adults and children alike and possibly foster a new love or appreciation for the environment, and learn a bit more about how california and the SCV river functioned nature wise and possibly history wise. Additionally, this helps fill in the role of a Community Center where along with education, it offers a space for more community events to take place, and be a sort of center or heart for the city.
