/OUR STORY

SCV is Awesometown...right? Then, why do we feel so uninspired and beige? We look at philosophy regarding the search for meaning and happiness and examine how suburbs are designed to provide all the meaning and happiness you need. We challenge this notion by reimagining the Santa Clara River. Inspired by the LA River Revitalization Project, we reimagine the Santa Clara River, creating resources, community, and beauty.

We are addressing the state of Nihilism, that moment when we bump into the very limits of our understanding. For example, what happens when we exceed even our parents' understanding of the global community. What happens when teachers can only answer from their teachers' manuals? What happens when we discover we are Truman. Is Nihilism the only path forward? Is depression built into young peoples' lives forever because their limits will be broader than those who have come before - even our older siblings?

The American answer to this: the suburb. Everything is answered here: BJ's pizookie, strip malls for convenience, slogans such as "Awesometown". Planned communities. Gates. Community pools. There are no homeless here. It truly is The Truman Show starring each one of us, pretending that everything is Bridgeport lake real. And to think beyond this space is trangressive. Means you are not one of us. Drive our cars. Think our thoughts. Be content. That's enough.

Share this information with others who have seen the cracks but were too afraid to do something about it. In this case, let's use the Santa Clara River as space for opportunity. It's dried, when it used to be essential for agriculture in this region. It had great utility but was sacrificed to the suburban Gods. The track houses were more important than water. Put a bike trail...those the homeless there...and do a once a year "River Rally" to "clean it up" and make it nothing again.  What if we made it something? What if we
